FARMing for Bacon (…and other fairy tales)

I was hanging out with a dear friend of mine last week

His wife was out of town celebrating a birthday, and since we hadn’t hung out in FOREVER, we decided to make it a date night full of Starbucks, classic Nintendo and Arcade video games

Ooooohhhh, the memories it brought back of spending hours and hours of mind-melting waste trying to beat Contra without THE KONAMI CODE

But in between rescuing Zelda and a chugging down a Cinnamon Toffee Nut Latte, we had a conversation of the ever popular and super-exciting topic of …

EVOLUTION vs. CREATION

When we get together, it seems like this subject always comes up, as I consider him as one of the few people that would take an Evolutionist to the woodshed

If there was anytime in my life where I got into a bar-fight over whether a Supreme Being plopped us on this great planet or whether we all went through the process of going from Fish, to Amphibian, to Reptile, to Mammal, he’d be the one I’d take

The udderly vast knowledge this dude has would make Big-Drunk-Bob’s head spin off his shoulders…

Anyway, back to the BLOG

Now, I’m a pretty simple guy. I don’t understand a lot of scientific jargon, and there’s a good chance if I got into a scientific or religious debate with someone who believes in the theory of evolution, if I tried to play to match intelligence, I’d be whooped

(but oh how the mind of a CHILD can throw off the “wise”)

So, fret not. I won’t go into religion or science on here

But here’s what’s been bothering me about the whole MONKEY ISSUE

It has to do with a belief that about 3% of the world population embraces

And out of that 3%, probably only another 25% truly ACTS out on, and takes steps to prove themselves right

That belief is that they were put on this Earth….with….Ahhhhhh…

PURPOSE

Again, this isn’t up for debate

I understand there are scientists that have proof of both sides of the coin

Just like GLOBAL WARMING

And the health benefits of drinking wine and FOLGERS

But here’s my question to the spies of the BLOGASPHERE…

Do you really believe so heavily that there’s no purpose in your life to think that you came from NOTHING?

You see, there’s not a thing on the face of God’s Green Round Ball that doesn’t have a purpose

• GRASS has a purpose…to cover the land
• FISH have a purpose…to provide food to humans, reproduce, and control other fin-swimmers
• TREES have a purpose…to provide beauty and O2

And best of all

HUMANS have a GIVEN purpose…

(purpose doesn’t just….HAPPEN…it’s GIVEN)

We are the most interesting of all the others, since it’s my personal opinion, that we were individually DESIGNED for GREAT purposes

And not just to “suck someone else’s Oxygen”

• Some for politics
• Some for business
• Some for religion
• Some for giving
• Some for missionary work
• Some for sports

But all human purpose is SIGNIFICANT and GREAT

And those who come into the awareness of that purpose, will prosper

So, if you were reading this with the notion of going to the zoo to visit your Uncle Bubbles and Aunt Tuna

And P.S.: if anyone has the skills to produce me a life-sized statue of Kevin Bacon out of bacon…I’ll give you a dollar!!
