What in the WORLD does wearing a Cubs hat, or a Derby, or a Deer Hunting hat have to do with LEADERSHIP???

Ok, so…

Winston Churchill wore a hat..Fine
George Washington wore a hat…Super
Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt both war hats…Great

But are you saying that some schmoe small-man is going to be a leader because he’s ROCKIN’ a CHEESEHEAD???

AND

I’m not wearing a hat, and that one dude (that I’m not too fond of at the moment) is

I then had a “wow…no kidding” moment

This is when Wisdom took me on a journey to earlier that month

I had wore my $10 Panama Jack, Wall-Mart cowboy man-hat all day

And got plenty of all the cowboy ribs

Of which, I thought were funny, and why should I care…

When while going out, with a buddy of mine, they made the statement

“Glad you didn’t wear the hat”

“Yeah, I DIDN’T WANT TO EMBARRASS YOU”

“Thanks, Pauly. You’re the bestest!”

“Awwwwwwwww shucks, if you say so.”

Have you ever done something so out of the ordinary that YOU “CAUSED” another person to be EMBARRASSED?

Have you wore anything soooooo out of the ordinary (but, hey, you liked it) that someone stated

“Take that off…YOU’RE EMBARRASSING ME”

“Don’t say that…YOU’RE EMBARRASSING ME”

Do you understand what that’s CODE for?

It’s code for:

I’m too self-conscious and too much of a conformist let another man dare to be different

It had ZERO do to with actually wearing a stupid hat

And had EVERYTHING to do with what happens to some people when someone dares to stand out in a crowd and be different from the MOB

It has JACK to do with wearing an ID10T hat

And all about the self-awareness of the one wearing it and the attitudes of those around them

We cry out

“Hey, I’m an original. I’m different!!”

But by our actions, we tell ourselves and others

“I HATE to be different, and don’t you DARE try to be either.”

By nature, ANYTHING that dares to pull us out of our comfort zones, we tend to fight against…

…until that very thing we fought against becomes COMFORTABLE to us

Then we think “Hmmm, it wasn’t that bad.”
